August Five Things // From The Inspired Abode

We feel like we say this every year at this time, but how is it almost the end of summer? If we had a summer break (RIP), it would already be over, which is mind-blowing. Time really does fly as you get older. All of that being said, we’ve had a great summer & are looking forward to fall so we can wear all of our favorite sweaters and booties!

We’re back with this month’s edition of Five Things. Take a look below to see what we’ve been loving this month – and share your monthly musings with us!

August Five Things // The Inspired Abode

We’re a little late to the game on this one, but The Haunting of Hill House is so chilling! It’s like a scary movie, but broken up into ten episodes on Netflix. It stars the mom vampire from Twilight, the new Daario Naharis from Game of Thrones & some really great young actors. The story jumps in time from when the kids were little & living in a house that’s now deemed haunted to the present day when they’re all adults that were shaped by the events they experienced living in Hill House.

We just ordered The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides (from our summer reading list!) and Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, so we’re looking forward to reading these books while lounging at home, by the pool, or at the beach!

We also both finally joined the trend & got Apple AirPods this summer and have been loving them!

We have been obsessed with Tocaya this month! One of our cofounders even went three times in one week… it’s just too good & healthy, plus they have a $7 spicy margarita (and like 5 other flavors!) that’s super tasty! We also tried out these healthy Sriracha shredded chicken tacos & they’re surprisingly delicious even though they’re outside of the typical ingredients in our go-to taco recipe.

There’s something about the end of summer that makes us want to go shopping! We were eyeing pretty much everything from Show Me Your Mumu’s big 50-60% off sale & definitely took advantage of the 50% off jeans at Abercrombie (love the fit of the low-rise denim because they’re definitely not the super-low hip-huggers from the store that we wore in high school). One of our editors is also in the market for a king-size bed, so we’ll be referencing our list of king beds under $1000!

We’re looking forward to a long weekend next weekend & we’re both taking advantage with Labor Day trips at the end of the month! If you have any recommendations for San Diego or Big Sur / Monterey, let us know!

Side note: We just got back from visiting Arizona (our home state!) for our best friend’s baby’s first birthday party and it was the cutest thing! There’s just something so cute about watching little kids interact with one another. If you ever want any restaurant suggestions in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, feel free to send us an email or DM!

We’d love to know what you’ve enjoyed watching, listening to, eating, drinking & what you’ve been eyeing and are looking forward to. Let us know in the comments section or send us a DM on Instagram! Don’t forget to follow us on Pinterest to see what inspires us daily!

Oh & something we’re really excited about lately? We just launched our very own e-design packages! If you’re looking to revamp your bedroom, living room, kitchen or office, we can help!
