Our Favorites from Athena Calderone's Collection for Crate & Barrel

Interior designer, EyeSwoon founder, and bestselling author of James Beard award-winning cookbook Cook Beautiful and everyone’s favorite aesthetically stunning coffee table book Live Beautiful, Athena Calderone is the newest designer that Crate and Barrel has collaborated with for a gorgeous collection of designs ideal for beautiful modern living. As an impressive creative whose work spans design, entertaining, and more, Athena Calderone is known for her “graceful yet juxtaposed” pairings – evident in this collection.

As she’s drawn to a clean, modernist aesthetic as well as plenty of neutrals and textures, the Athena Calderone x Crate and Barrel collection brings in the designer’s elevated, effortless, and cozy vibe to homes across the country and the world. The curated collection showcases sofas, beds, and nightstands, as well as a benches and ottomans, accent chairs, storage cabinets and media consoles, dining chairs, and décor – all of which feature neutral hues of creamy white, black, and pecan, as well soft, natural colors such as terracotta and basil. “Setting the scene with a neutral foundation brings much-needed cohesion to the space,” Calderone tells Crate & Barrel, adding that “the power of the imperfect is transformative”– so you’ll find a blend of clean lines paired with ancient-inspired textures in these stand-out pieces.

The Athena Calderone x Crate and Barrel collection is available online now, so we’ve rounded up some of our favorite picks from the new collection below. Click each image to shop!

“Le Tuco” Shearling Accent Chair - $2,699

If you’re a fan of Emily Schuman of Cupcakes & Cashmere’s living room designed by Katie Hodges Design, you’ve likely been eyeing her shearling arm chair. While it was likely custom, you can get the same look with this cozy accent chair perfect for cuddling up with one of our favorite books!

“AngolarE” 3-Piece Sectional Sofa IN PECAN - $4,297

We’re so drawn to this beautiful sage green color since it’s what we like to call a “natural neutral” (a color that’s not necessarily neutral but seen in nature), and this modular sectional sofa gives total ‘70s vibes that will bring style and minimalist calm to your living space.

“Revival” Oak Wood Platform Bed with Upholstered Headboard - Starting at $2,499

Imagine waking up in this glorious bed with a cozy upholstered headboard and statement platform base. It’s giving us Nancy Meyers’ main character feels, and it’s just a beautiful piece to create a great base for a serene bedroom sanctuary with calming character.

“Délicat” Taper Candle Holders and Centerpiece Bowls - Starting at $70 each

These matte textured footed centerpiece bowls and taper-candle holders in cream and sun-faded terracotta are perfect for adding style to your dining table, kitchen counter, coffee table, or shelves. They’re beautiful as is or displaying your prized possessions.

Sensorio Swoop Arm Velvet Accent Chair - $899

We love incorporating velvet into home décor for an elevated, cozy feel – and this curvy, vintage-inspired accent chair covered in a rich faux mohair will be a statement piece in your favorite sitting area, from the bedroom to the living room to a reading nook in your office.

“Honore” Oak Wood 72" Media Console - $2,299

Inspired by vintage design, this media console will be a statement piece in your home. We love the textured look with seamlessly added wood pulls for an effortless look. There’s also plenty of closed storage for games, media, and more – which is always a huge plus for organization!

“Insieme” Oversized Linen Tablecloth - $170

We love a beautiful, elegant, and relaxed tablescape for a dinner party, and this oversized linen tablecloth sets the perfect canvas. Meant to drape and puddle to the floor, the linen offers a graceful, classic look that can be left alone or layered with your favorite runner.

“Ruins” Ceramic Sculptural Table Lamps with Pleated Shade - $349 EACH

Available in black or cream, these lamps have an ancient ruins look that feel like they should be in an art museum instead of your living room. We love the textured, sculptural stoneware base as well as the pleated taper linen shade for even more character.

“Sassolino” Concrete and Burl Wood Coffee Table - $1,599

If you’re looking for a neutral coffee table with a style all its own, this kidney-shaped concrete coffee table top is married with burl-wood legs to create an organic look that will tie your entire living space together. Tip: Incorporate burl wood in another accent piece in the same space to tie everything together!

“Facette” White Vases - starting at $40 each

These lovely textured vases are beautiful on their own, as well as with dried botanicals added! Athena Calderone shares that she loves a pair of these vases paired together on an entry table with dried branches or a single vase with faux peonies atop a favorite coffee table book.

“Le Panneau” Oak Wood Storage Cabinet - $2,999

We love white oak, and this cabinet would be a dream for closed storage in a living space, office, bedroom, or even a bathroom! The alternate wood grain patterning in the doors creates a unique look that’s timeless all the same!

“Mostarda” Throw Pillows - starting at $40 each

The key to a curated pillow collection is mixing shapes, patterns, and textures! The “Corse” bouclé ivory pillow is soft & cozy, the “Creste” corduroy pillows provide a subtle stripe pattern, and the “Mostarda” and “Salvia” faux mohair pillows bring in some color!

“Sinuous” Curved Sofa in cognac - $2,299

We love a stunning curved sofa, and this sofa is no different! Mixing a mid-century modern design with an elegant sculptural look, this stylish sofa would be a great fit for a formal sitting room or even a cozy family room – the warm, rich hue has the added bonus of being kid- & pet-friendly!

“Ceremonie” Natural Boucle Dining Chair - $499

Reimagining the classic-modern wishbone chair with an armless look, we love the blend of an oak frame at the forefront of the design as well as the bouclé upholstered seat. It also comes in green for those who want to add a bit of color to their dining room!

“Rodin” Black Floor Mirror - $1,199

Every home needs a great floor mirror whether you’re taking OOTD pics or not! This beautiful handwrought iron inspired by one of France’s most famous sculptors, the black mirror has beautifully imperfect texture and a great architectural look.

“Douzee” Aperitifs Plates (Set of 6) - $60

Stoneware plates are our love language, so we love these appetizer plates with an effortlessly elegant matte texture and imperfect finish for a modern, organic look. You’ll definitely want to add these to your cart before your next dinner party, movie night, or game night!

“Rodin” White Boucle Dining Chair - $499

Blending an architectural look with a cozy feel, this dining chair featuring Neoclassical French-inspired handwrought iron and textured bouclé upholstery would be so stylish surrounding a dining table or incorporated into a neutral home office design.

“Rodin” Brown Velvet Bench - $899

Looking for a bench for your entryway or to place at the foot of your bed? This French-inspired wrought iron bench topped with a cocoa brown velvet cushion has a timeless look that (again!) would fit perfectly into the set design of your favorite Nancy Meyer’s film.

“A Coste” Etched Wine Glasses - $15 each

As Athena Calderone says, “The simplest bit of fluting or ridging can elevate the most everyday experience, like drinking a glass of water,” and these etched wine glasses will certainly elevate any beverage you love – from sparkling water to wine to even your daily juice or smoothie.

“Saveur” 3-Part Bowl - $90

We love the “Mercer” 3-part server from Crate & Barrel, and this travertine version is even more of a statement piece. Designed to be multi-functional, it’s perfect for pizza night (oregano, parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes), a trio of fine salts, or even your most prized possessions!

“Canali” Travertine Square Planters - starting at $100 each

Real & faux plants add style to every space, and these gorgeous planters featuring organic textures and clean lines will elevate your greenery even more. Athena Calderone also suggests flipping the planters upside-down to use them as stylish plinths or side tables.
