May Monthly Musings from The Inspired Abode / Late Spring Early Summer Moodboard

links we can’t stop sending each other, products, links, current faves

  • Kel helped B find the cutest work bag under $30 before her client trip to Miami & now it’s doubling as a diaper bag. Win win!

  • This might be old news for a lot of you, but we still just find it so cool that all of the stars of The White Lotus make the same amount per episode.

  • Instead of wearing the same old tanks & white tees this spring, Kel decided to do a little Amazon haul to freshen up the basics. Highly recommend this $10 white cropped tee, this 3-pack of fitted soft tees ($10/tee), and my new favorite cropped high-neck tank that I got in white & grey!

  • While I’m not sure it’d be allowed in our neighborhoods, we recently came across this company that sells chic, “smart” chicken coops – cute little chicks included! How amazing would it be to have fresh eggs every day?! Adding to our wish list 🐣

what we’re watching

  • Although it was a tough watch at times, we were so impressed with Adolescence on Netflix. It’s also only four episodes & especially a must-watch if you’re a parent! In case you haven’t heard, every episode is filmed in a single shot – which is even more impressive after seeing episode 3 of The Studio.

  • If you haven’t watched Paradise on Hulu yet, we both loved it! We went in knowing nothing about it and it kept us hooked until the end.

  • We’re also watching Seinfeld from the beginning (via Netflix) for a fun escape to a world before cell phones & the internet. It’s a quick feel-good show before bed!

what we’re reading

  • Kel is currently reading The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu (book 2 of the Three Body Problem series). B just finished book 1, and although the sequel starts off pretty slow, B’s husband raves about the whole series, so we’re both going to keep pushing through.

  • B is currently reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson. Lots of good tidbits being highlighted in the ‘ol Kindle.

  • While we haven’t started it yet, our book club is reading The Talent by Daniel D’Addario. It just became available on our Libby, so we will probably start this weekend. It was on this list of the best book club books with others that we’re def adding to our own reading list!

what we’re listening to

  • Watching With Love, Meghan has given us a whole new appreciation for Yacht Rock, so it’s back in our rotation!

  • We both recently listened to this Diary of a CEO podcast and loved it. It’s all about how to be the best communicator you can be – in your relationship, in friendships, in your career, and just throughout life. We made our husbands listen too & Kel’s husband even took notes on his last flight while listening.

what we’re eating/drinking

  • We recently bought Substack queen Caroline Chambers’ cookbook of the same name, What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking, and have been loving it! Our favorite easy dish so far is the cheesy rice & beans dish on page 112.

  • Kel recently started her habit of drinking hot lemon water in the morning, and it’s been such a nice way to start the day. Tip: freeze lemon-juice ice cubes to make it super easy each morning – we’re all about working smarter, not harder.

  • It sounds kind of gross, but we’ve been loving avocado/cottage cheese toast for a protein-rich version of the fave for lunch. Simply start by toasting sourdough + sauerkraut for a fermented addition to help your gut microbiome + mashed avocado / cottage cheese mix + crumbled feta + hot sauce. Tasty, easy & healthy!

little joys

  • We finally got our hair cut! We just hit the year mark of living in San Diego, so it was long overdue, but we are so excited about this little change 👏🏻

  • It’s hard to believe we’re about to celebrate our second Mother’s Day! No plans yet, but hopefully a mix of relaxing in solace, hanging with each other, and getting the families together. Maybe not all on actual Mother’s Day, but throughout Mother’s Day Weekend.

  • & as always, trying to appreciate the little things – when your love brings you coffee first thing in the morning on a day you would normally wait until 10am, your little one reaching up to hold your hand at an unexpected time, a little extra snuggle from the pups (or cats!), scheduling some “me” time & sticking to it.

We’d love to know what you’ve enjoyed watching, listening to, eating, drinking & what you’ve been eyeing and are looking forward to.
