March Monthly Musings // From The Inspired Abode

It’s hard to believe it’s already March – this year is flying by… just like our pregnancies, which have officially hit the halfway mark!

With our hearts full from February (complete with a relaxing rainy trip to celebrate our mom’s birthday at Rancho Valencia outside of San Diego), we’re looking forward to spending March getting some organizational projects checked off our list, putting our baby registries together, and shopping for our upcoming trip!

We’re heading to Europe later this month, which we’re so excited about! We’ll be visiting our best friends who moved to London last summer & also spending a couple days in Rome. Hoping for great spring weather, but we do love wearing our long coats while walking down the cobblestone streets, so it’ll be a great time rain or shine.

Hope you all have a great rest of March & best wishes to all of us who will be getting an hour of sunlight back in our lives on Sunday!

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING…

We’ve been finishing up some shows in anticipation of all of the spring shows returning this month! We’re most excited for Daisy Jones & The Six since we loved the book (loving it so far!), the final season of Succession, the new season of Ted Lasso, Top Chef World All-Stars (plus, it takes place in London!) & the final part of this season’s You.

We’re also trying to watch as many Oscar nominations for Best Picture as we can before the Academy Awards on March 12th!

WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO…

We’ve been trying to switch up our daily “while at work” music from classical to something more fun, and we’ve been loving the French Café Lounge playlist to feel like we’re in Paris & oldies on the Black & White Film playlist.

WHAT WE’RE READING…

We’ve still been reading & loving the American Royals series – currently on book two of three (and the fourth book is coming in August!). It’s an easy, fun read with a cool concept of imagining modern-day life if America was a monarchy and George Washington became the first King of America instead of the first President. If you’ve enjoyed The Crown, Bridgerton, and Gossip Girl, you’d definitely enjoy it!

With the baby news, we’ve also been diving into new chapters of What to Expect When You’re Expecting! With so much information out there via social media, apps and websites focused on moms-to-be, and blog posts, it’s refreshing to just pick up a hard copy of the book that all of our moms have probably read (updated of course since then!).

At this month’s book club, we’ll be discussing This Time Tomorrow by Emma Straub. While we wouldn’t put it on our must-read list, it was definitely enjoyable & picks up about mid-book. Loved the concept, so would definitely recommend! For more book ideas, check out some of our book reviews!

WHAT WE’RE EATING & DRINKING…

We’ve really been trying to up our protein levels & a great way to do so is by starting the day with greek yogurt + berries + fiber/protein-enriched granola. It’s at least 20g of protein & so tasty!

Since we obviously can’t drink alcohol while pregnant, we’ve been trying new flavors of Target’s Good & Gather sparkling water – and also loved the alcohol-free rosé from French Bloom for a celebratory option & the non-alcoholic “Free Wave” hazy IPA by Athletic Brewing Co. when we’re craving the taste of beer!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN BUYING…

While we haven’t bought it (yet)… We’ve been eyeing this Fuji Film Instax Mini Link 2 Smartphone Printer that allows you to print any photo you want on Polaroid-style film (sold separately). We’ve always wanted to build a “polaroid box” of favorite photos from over the years for our coffee tables & never thought it’d be possible without prior polaroids… until now!

links we’re loving…

We are obsessed with the Whisk app! Not only does it allow you to store all of your favorite recipes in one place, but you can add recipes to your weekly meal plan, add the items to a shopping list (and even shop from the app via Amazon Fresh, etc.), and look at combined health scores based on the ingredients in a recipe. We use it almost daily!

If you’re planning to watch the Oscars on Sunday, March 12th, here’s the list of all of the nominees!

While in the San Diego area celebrating our mom’s birthday last month, we stopped into the CUTEST store at the One Paseo outdoor shopping center: Pigment – and we found out they have an online store!! Inspired by color, design, California & the good ol' days, the shop is filled with great gift ideas, succulents & greenery, furniture, clothes & more.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO…

We’re SO excited for our quick week-long trip to London & Rome later this month! It’ll be K’s husband’s first time in Europe & we’re going back to some of B’s favorite restaurants in Roma that she & her husband visited in September for pizza & pasta (minus the wine, sadly).

Can’t wait to update you all in April!
