June Monthly Musings // From The Inspired Abode
Happy June! ✨ It’s a big month for us – our birthday month (36!), Kel’s daughter’s third birthday & fourth wedding anniversary, Father’s Day, and being on baby watch! Kel is officially more pregnant than she’s ever been (since Avery was five weeks early), so baby boy could literally come any day now – which is exactly why she’ll be spending this weekend packing a hospital bag & getting (most) everything checked off the pre-baby to-do list!
We’re also celebrating our second summer in San Diego after moving from Los Angeles after living there for over a decade, and we are just so excited to keep making family memories here & exploring all of the tourist spots + local faves in the area. This summer will look slightly different with B’s new baby and Kel’s newborn, but we’re determined to make it special – and use our fave baby carriers as much as possible!
We’re so excited to spend this Saturday with you. Now, grab a coffee or tea (we’ve been loving cappuccinos at home & dirty chais when out and about!), share a fun snack with your toddler if you’re also in this season of life & let’s catch up! 🤍

links we can’t stop sending each other, products, links, current faves
This isn’t share-to-the-internet-family worthy since it’s so niche, but we have been sharing a lot back & forth in regards to narrowing down preschool options for the kiddos. Substack post coming soon for how we’re organizing all the info!
We were influenced to buy Meghan Markle Duchess of Sussex’s weekender bag after watching season 2 of With Love, Meghan on Netflix…until we saw the price tag.
Also just seeing now that her show won’t be coming back for a third season (?!?) & we are bummed.
Carissa of broccyourbody shared this cute woven sun hat the other day & Kel might just have to get it since it looks so similar to this toddler version she just bought her daughter. It’s now on our wish list along with this straw hat we’ve been eyeing, so need to decide if we’re into the matchy mommy-and-me vibes!
what we’re watching
We’re in a bit of a show rut at the moment, but we very much enjoyed season two of Your Friends & Neighbors (the finale was this week!) and Top Chef (but the finale is next week – we miss it already!).
We are also catching up on past seasons of Bridgerton occasionally, always love Jeopardy & still need to catch up on season two of Nobody Wants This & season four of Emily in Paris Rome!
what we’re reading
We are finally almost done with These Summer Storms, so we’ll be jumping to The Heir Apparent by Rebecca Armitage next!
Not a book, but this IG post from Mina Baie made us emotional 🥹 Will definitely be soaking up all of the sweet summers & moments with our fam!
what we’re listening to
This podcast episode on manifestation was a good one & seemed much more in line with what we think of when we think of manifesting: not just thinking something to yourself, but taking the action and limiting self doubt to actually make it happen.
We found Liz Moody’s podcast with Dr. Stacy Sims incredibly interesting! It’s all about how most medical, nutrition, and exercise research is based on studies done on only men – and what to do as a woman to get strong & healthy. From men and women’s different melatonin peaks for optimal sleep to when and what to eat for strength, hormones, etc., it was so informative!
what we’re eating/drinking
We’ve been trying some new recipes from Erin O'Brien’s new cookbook Dig In, and they’ve all been delish! Love the Green Mac & Cheese, Weeknight Enchilada Casserole, and Broccoli Orecchiette so far & can’t wait to try the rest 😍
Kel has been experimenting with sourdough recipes, which has been fun! We’ll be trying homemade sourdough pizza crust for our monthly pizza night & very excited to see if it’ll be our new go-to recipe.
Acai bowls have been our go-to snack lately – from the farmer’s market, to our favorite coffee-shop-in-a-plant-nursery Selva Coffee House & our go-to neighborhood spots.
We’ve been loving golden milk lattes before bed – and apparently they’re great for sleep & inflammation. Just heat up your milk of choice in a saucepan, add coconut oil, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, honey or maple syrup, and a bit of pepper & enjoy!
little joys
Pool days! The weather is getting hotter & we are just so excited to spend all of the warm days at B’s pool this summer. The kiddos also have a blast in their pirate & princess boat pool floats – and their miniature pool inner tubes, which are just the cutest things ever. Next step: finally committing to their swim lessons!
We met one of our favorite creators at her Dig In cookbook launch party in La Jolla & she was even sweeter IRL than we thought she’d be! We suffer from thinking we could be real friends with every nice celebrity/influencer/creator we meet, and it was no different with Erin O'Brien & her husband Andrew.
Turning our design moodboards into pretty room designs! If you love the Nancy Meyers aesthetic as much as we do, you’ll love our latest home inspo post 🤎
Kel & her husband had their baby-#2-moon in Laguna Beach last month, and it was the perfect time away! Highly recommend Surf & Sand for a bougie stay + lunch at their Splashes Bar or dinner/brunch at the restaurant of the same name!
Seeing our kids thriving outside of the home – their little park friend group went on a field trip with the neighborhood nannies to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park & the photos of their smiles just brought the biggest smiles to our faces too 😍
Singing all of the Disney hits in the car with our almost-three-year-olds singing along in the back seat. Current faves: the Moana soundtrack, Frozen’s “Let It Go,” The Little Mermaid’s “Kiss the Girl,” and (not Disney, but still a must): “Golden.”
shared notes from our community
One of our favorite people is now on Substack! We’ve been friends with Bre for years, and she’s a true gem of a human. She’s in the process of writing a novel we’re SO excited about, and her newsletter Subject to Change includes relatable essays about being a woman in her 30s & a TGIF post of recs each Friday that we always look forward to!
We’d love to know what you’ve enjoyed watching, listening to, eating, drinking & what you’ve been eyeing and are looking forward to.
