Neighborhood Favorite: Stella Barra

We shut down our computers right at 6pm today because that time marked the start of a long-awaited Labor Day Weekend! Not to mention, our stomachs started growling at 4pm in anticipation of our 6:15pm reservation at Stella Barra – a trendy pizza place with two California locations: one in Hollywood (near our office!) and the other in Santa Monica.
P.S. They have a third location in Chicago!

K & I toasted to the long weekend & sipped our respective glasses of St. Hallett Faith Shiraz and Zonin Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
We were thrilled that they offer half & half pizzas, so we opted to split a single appetizer and a pizza. Is it bad that we're still hungry?

She never stops working...
I clearly need to learn how to take a serious photo.

First up was their daily special – oven-roasted cauliflower with jalapeño pesto. Next, we enjoyed two slices each of the Applewood Smoked Bacon & Goat Cheese, without bacon (gruyère, local goat cheese, parsley, scallions & charred tomato oil) and the Fennel Bianco (hand-shaved fennel, burrata, fresh rosemary, torn basil & organic olive oil). I couldn't tell you which half I liked best because they were both absolutely amazing.

I would highly recommend this place if you're ever in the LA or Chicago area! I know that we're happy we work within walking distance & I'm seeing plenty of lunch and dinner twin dates here in the future!
