dineLA: Obikà Mozzarella Bar

dineLA's Restaurant Week is perhaps the highlight of our month.  Although the "week" (which is actually 12 days) began on January 20th, we didn't book our first reservation until this past Saturday night.  We chose to visit Obikà Mozzarella Bar in Century City since B has been wanting to go ever since she passed by their location in Milano's Rinascente shopping center adjacent to Piazza del Duomo.
First things first, we ordered the most expensive red wine on the menu: Poggio ai Ginepri out of Tuscany. At last, it was time to make our choices off of the dineLA prix fixe menu.

Course 1: Welcome Plate
K got the Mini Zuppa di Fave, a delicious fava bean soup.
B got the Mini Caponata, a Sicilian eggplant casserole.

Course 2: Appetizer
K chose the Caprese, buffalo mozzarella cheese atop organic tomatoes with a hint of basil.
B chose the Mini-Tasting of Mozzarella di Bufala, complete with classic buffalo mozzarella & burrata.

Course 3: Main Course
K opted for the Pizza al Tartufo Nero di Norcia without the ham (since we're vegetarians) – it was topped with mozzarella di bufala, ricotta & black truffles.
B opted for Schiaffoni di Gragnano “Pasta Gentile” – a simple dish made with pasta flown in from Italy along with tomato sauce, mozzarella di bufala & basil.

Course 4: Dessert
This was perhaps our favorite part of the entire meal, most likely because we rarely indulge in sweets.
K ended her meal with the Trio di Dessert, a delicious tasting of Obikà's Ricotta Mousse, Tiramisu & Torta di Capri (chocolate cake made without flour).
B ended her meal with the Affogato al Caffé, which was a glass of espresso with a dollop of gelato.

Had B not tripped while walking out of the restaurant (meanwhile grabbing the waiter's arm hard enough to induce a bruise), we would have gone back next week.  Due to B's embarrassment, it may be awhile before we set foot in this perfect date spot again.

Is anyone else this obsessed with cheese?
