Lost Love is Still Love
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom is one of those novels that stays with you throughout your entire life. We read it a few years ago, and we still remember the quotes and life lessons that it taught us.
The novel tells the story of an elderly man named Eddie who worked at an amusement park as a maintenance man. On his birthday, he dies trying to save a girl from one of the rides at the amusement park-- and at the point when he dies, he doesn't know whether or not he was successful in his rescue attempt.
Once he arrives in the "afterlife", he is greeted by five people who at first seem insignificant to his life, but he learns that each had a role in his existence and affected his life's progression.
We're not going to give anything else away since we want you to read the book, but here are five of our favorite quotes from the novel that truly remind us of life's meaning:
“There are five people you meet in heaven. Each of us was in your life for a reason. You may not have known the reason at the time, and that is what heaven is for. For understanding your life on earth. This is the greatest gift God can give you: to understand what happened in your life. To have it explained. It is the peace you have been searching for.”
“Holding anger is a poison...It eats you from inside. We think that by hating someone we hurt them...But hatred is a curved blade and the harm we do to others...we also do to ourselves.”
“All endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time.”
“Strangers are family you haven't recognized yet”
“Lost love is still love.”
